Celebrating one year at OG with our Multimedia Producer, Leona Kadijevic

Since joining Opportunity Green a year ago as our Multimedia Producer, Leona has been instrumental in improving OG’s visual identity and bringing our projects to life through engaging multimedia content. Here she reflects on her first year in the role.

What drew you to work at OG?

From the very start, while job hunting for my next role within the NGO sector, the Multimedia Producer position at OG grew more appealing with each read and stage of the application. The values and progressive approach at OG were clearly demonstrated throughout each step of the application process, giving me firsthand proof that OG doesn’t just “talk the talk” but also “walks the walk”. Beyond the vital inner workings of OG as an organisation, the thrill of building and further developing both OG’s and SASHA’s visual identities, as well as helping to bring bold, complex projects come to life and reach the right people, has been nothing short of thrilling to me as a creative.

What has changed since you started?

Perhaps the fact that we moved to a new, bigger office space to accommodate all our brilliant and ever-growing teams – as well as tripling the number of canine visitors – is worth bragging about!?

But most strikingly, it is the growth of OG’s culture and diversity within our teams that make me feel even happier working here, as it truly reflects the core values and daily approach of our work. A special highlight has been seeing how people have progressed in their roles by working on complex projects with bravery and exceptional skill in their respective fields. Examples like the development of the ITLOS and ICJ projects into their new stages, and the growth of SASHA’s membership through a thoughtful and considerate process, are especially encouraging and fulfilling to see.

What are you most proud of being involved in since you joined?

Making every team’s everyday use of Microsoft Word – and navigating its complexities of adding images to a report – just a bit smoother while also working on bigger and more challenging projects, is always really rewarding. One job that stood out was to create the office posters. Since they are meant to stay up much longer than a fleeting social post, it was an honour to be trusted with delivering them and help build up our new office spaces. But equally the sheer volume of fleeting social content that is created by the comms team which can easily get lost in the endless stream of news feeds, is just as gratifying and honouring. The aim is to help each team’s project and ambition cut through the noise of today’s digital media in order to achieve the long-overdue undoing of climate change.

Being part of bringing the Taxonomy project to life through a dynamic video, developing an infographic for the ‘Global shipping: mega profits, micro taxes’ report (which was featured in various media outlets,) and supporting SASHA Coalition’s work to encourage real sustainable fuels for shipping and aviation makes me appreciate my role in helping to amplify the messages and visibility of both OG and SASHA.

What inspires you about what you’re working on?

Working in a place with such a variety of talented, brave and driven colleagues who care about fostering a kind and sustainable working culture fills my cup with eagerness and wish to give the same back, so that this positive cycle can continue growing. But it’s also amazing to see how seemingly mundane small things, like chatting with friends and love ones about our working environment and culture, can inspire them to take action and create a similar reality for themselves.

What are you looking forward to in the coming year?

I’m looking forward to building on all of this – growing our outputs and refining our internal processes to make things even smoother for every team, especially when wrapping up the complex cases and projects they bring to the table. These improvements help create the meaningful shifts we’re all working toward.

I’m excited to see OG’s continued growth and impact, and to keep representing such an amazing place to work. Celebrating even bigger wins, like legal rulings, which can take years to come to fruition, is always rewarding. Progress may sometimes feel slow, but the impact is always worth the wait.

I look forward to continuing to challenge the way things currently work – both in our everyday working life and in the global sphere – by setting strong examples at every level of OG’s work. Seeing real, tangible change happen in the world, and knowing I’ve been a small part of it, is a reward in itself.
